The Chamber...
Who Runs the
Chamber?
The members run the Chamber.
Every year, members elect five directors to serve on the board for a four-year term and
the President appoints four directors as vice presidents for a one-year term. The
Judge Executive and Mayors are ex-officio members. The board sets the policies which
govern the operations and activities of the Chamber. Volunteer committees
are separated under four major divisions: tourism, economic development, internal
affairs and public affairs. Activities of the Chamber are supported by a
full-time professional staff which manages all Chamber operations.
How is the Chamber
Financed?
Membership investments are the
primary financial source which is necessary to operate and maintain the Chamber office
and carry on the activities of its committees. These investments, paid annually, are
apportioned among its members, consisting primarily of individuals, professionals,
businesses and industry. Since the Chamber of Commerce is not a government
agency, it does not receive tax support.
