Victorian Abbey History of St. Leo Church At the time the Diocese of Covington was formed, Versailles was a station attended by a priest from Frankfort, Kentucky. Later it was attended from Lexington. Before the erection of the church, the congregation had been attended by priests from White Sulphur and Scott County, Father William Gorey and Father Edward Donnelly. Plans for a church at Versailles had been made as early as 1887 and the cornerstone of the present church was laid by Bishop Camillus Maes on November26, 1889. St. Leo Church was completed and dedicated by Bishop Maes on October 15, 1892
